Actually this was going to be a brief posting about the pleasure of buying a Mercedes Benz and landed up being a tribute to Janis Joplin. My stories of people and things are always some how related to the law of attraction.

This became a mini Janis Joplin tribute because I’m in for a new car and this time I really thought about what I wanted and had a good look around on the internet first. There are some stunningly gorgeous little vroom vrooms on the market. Little two seaters. What fun! But I’m a mom with twins so I need something big. Well I got my heart set on a Mercedes SLC class. Kind of conservative but still looks appealing and has serious motor stuff.Hey I don’t no much about technicalities but it all looks good, and that’s when I remembered Janis Joplin and her song Oh Lord won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz…

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a color TV ?
Dialing For Dollars is trying to find me.
I wait for delivery each day until three,
So oh Lord, won’t you buy me a color TV ?

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a night on the town ?
I’m counting on you, Lord, please don’t let me down.
Prove that you love me and buy the next round,
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a night on the town ?

Those are the lyrics of the song Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin.

My Car - but I don’t want a silver one, maybe colorful like Janis’s porsche?

The merc people make you feel like a Goddess. When you send off for information you get a hard cover book with stunning photographic work. All interiors are shown. You get samples of the interior woods and fabric and of course you can make an appointment for a test drive. So if you’ve got your heart set on a car and want to experience the FEELING which is the be all of making dreams come true then go test drive that car you want!

Anyway back to Janis; and her request to the powers that be for a Mercedes Benz. Actually that song was intended as a political statement. Janis made a fortune with her music and no wonder with all that soul and rock oozing out of her pores.

So Janis attracted the best managers, a porsche and a serious pile of dollars. But somehow she felt unworthy or she wouldn’t have traded those dollars for smack. The sad truth of so many stars especially in the music industry. Pure unbrideld talent accompanied by negative self worth.

Janis’s Porsche was hand painted by her friend.

I don’t know a whole about Janis cos I was 7 years old when the lethal dosage of H killed her. But she sure made an impression because people still imitate her 36 years later. She was a hippy, a mover and what I could gather from old interviews she was totally honest and natural.

Here’s a YouTube video of Janis sing ing Oh lord won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz. It has some live footage of her singing. Take note at the gorgeous giggle she has at the end of the song. It’s cute!

And here’s another YouTube of Janis doing my all time absolute favorite Summertime, in Stockholm 1969. It gives me goose bumps each time.

And if you don’t own a Janis album I recommend a Box of Pearls. (She was named Pearl by her fans) It has all of her songs. So head on over to Amazon and listen to sample tracks.

For a deeper insight into Janis’s life the book her sister, Laura Joplin wrote is essential reading. It’s titled Love, Janis and is written from the heart with an easy going style. Reveals a whole lot about the flower power, rock and drug generation.
