A group of students was asked to list what they thought were the present “Seven Wonders of the World.” Though there were some disagreements, the following received the most votes:

1. Egypt’s Great Pyramids
2. Taj Mahal
3. Grand Canyon
4. Panama Canal
5. Empire State Building
6. St. Peter’s Basilica
7. China’s Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noticed that one quiet student hadn’t turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The girl replied, “Yes, a little. I couldn’t quite make up my mind because there were so many.”

The teacher said, “Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help.”

The girl hesitated, then read, “I think the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ are:

1. to see
2. to hear
3. to touch
4. to taste
5. to feel
6. to laugh
7. and to love.”

Umm… This didn’t happen. She is a little girl and would never put something that corny down as her answer. Oh, and another thing, I’ve been at school for a long time (actually, I’m at college right now!) and never have any of my teachers asked anything like this question? How generic! But, just for yo sake, since I was rather short, I’ll give another corny illustration that I dislike.

A woman was at a store. She was buying her family groceries, and she saw a fake pearl necklace and she thought to herself, “My daughter would love that and it’s cheap too!” So she went and grabbed it and left. She arrived home and gave the necklace to her daughter (for the sake of the story, hence shall be known as Katie) and Katie beamed. She thanked her mom over and over and went to show her dad. The next morning, the family of three were eating breakfast together. While they were eating, Katie’s father asked her,
“Katie, do you love your pearls?”
She replied, “Yes very much so!”
    “Well… Do you love me?”
    “Yes daddy! I love you!”
“Well… Will you give me your pearls?”
“No daddy! I can’t give you my pearls! I love them to much!”
And he dropped the subject. Well this scene continued much the same way for a couple mornings until one morning…
    “Katie, do you love me?”
She starts to tear up, “Yes daddy, you know I love you”
“Well Katie, if you love me, wil you give me your pearls?”
She starts to cry, “Daddy! I love you but I just don’t want to give you my pearls! I love them so much!”
He says ok and goes to his study. He starts reading and a while later, he hears a soft knock at his door. He opens the door and Katie is standing there crying with her pearl necklace outstretched in her hand.
“Daddy, I just want you let you know that I love you more then I love my pearls, Here.” And he takes them. He then goes over to his lectern and opens a drawer and puts them in. He opens another drawer and pulls out a real pearl necklace.
“I just wanted to see if you would be willing to give up something you really love for me. So here, since you were willing to give me your favorite thing, I want to give you something better.”
    The end.

I guess some people like these type of illustrations that would never happen in a million years…

How can you be sure it didn’t happen?

I was asked that question by my school teacher. As far as I’m concerned those are the the wonders of the world.

    Thanks for visiting.

How can you be sure these kind of things don’t happen?

I’m a parent and can tell you I’ve done it myself!
